‘Earth Day 2016’

Every year on April 22 the World celebrates Earth Day. On April 22-25, 2016, was arranged several activities for celebrating Earth Day, supported by NGO “EcoVision,” within the framework of “SPARE” project.

On April 22, Tbilisi #149 public school eco club organized eco-action, under which were arranged: awawrding ceremony of eco-competitions, fun and educational eco-games, created by NGO “EcoVision,” Trash-art master-classes, exhibition of paintings and wall papers. Event organizers collected toys, books and products for children shelters. NGO “EcoVision” representatives also attended the meeting and arranged trainings about waste and eco-tourism for children. At the event was also arranged the presentation of Eco Film Festival and Competition, which is being implemented by NGO “EcoVision” and financed by the U.S. Embassy in Georgia. Within the framework of this project was held an eco-quiz for school children and the winner was rewarded with Invitation at Summer Eco-camp “EcoVision 2016.”

On April 22, Tbilisi #170 nursery school held an environmental action in which participated up to 70 children. They read children’s environmental poems, developed by “EcoVision.”

On April 22, Tbilisi City Hall Environment and Landscaping Department organized a tree planting action at Makhata mountain, in which also participated “EcoVision” TV Show presenters.

Abkhazia #7 public school eco club “Edelweiss” organized an action of chalk drawing on the asphalt, in which participated primary school students. VIII-X graders held clean up action and cleaned up the surrounding area of the school. The project was closed on April 22 with Earth Day celebration event, during which children made presentations about earth, water, waste, etc). They read poems and periscopes from Vazha-Pshavela writings. Eco club members also made presentation about NGO “EcoVision” and “SPARE” project. The event was attended by the representatives of school administration and Natural Sciences Department.

 

 ‘Earth Day 2016’

 

On April 23 Georgian-American High School arranged a conference. Students made presentations about different environmental topics, including climate change, energy efficiency and energy saving, waste management, biodiversity, air pollution, etc. The event was also attended by the representatives of “SPARE” donor organization and environmental NGO from Ukraine. At the meeting was also arranged the presentation of Eco Film Festival and Competition, which is being implemented by NGO “EcoVision” and financed by the U.S. Embassy in Georgia.
