On April 29, 2017, at Ilia State University was arranged the Forum "Youth for Sustainable Development" for the first time in Georgia. The founders of the Forum are NGOs: "European Youth Center" and "Union for Sustainable Development - EcoVision". The forum aims to increase youth engagement and inform them on sustainable development issues. Forum is a discussion platform for young people.
On April 25, 2017, at Hotel “Citrus,” Georgia Red Cross Society conducted a round table discussion on the awareness raising interventions about climate change. The meeting was attended by the representatives of NGO “EcoVision” – Merab Sharabidze and Keti Zhvania. They made presentations on the topic: “Awareness raising interventions through Small Adaptation Projects.”
On April 22, 2017, at Vake Park, was arranged an environmental educational event for celebrating EARTH DAY. The action was organized by the U.S. Embassy in Georgia. NGO “EcoVision” participated in this event. The aim of this action was to support environment protection.
On April 5-12, 2017, trainings and eco-quizzes were held for more than 500 students of the 16 schools from Varketili district that are involved in the project “Save Water.” The meeting participants got information about the importance of water resources and its sustainable using. For assessing the knowledge of the children which they received during the trainings, there were held the eco-quizzes. During the eco-quizzes the winning teams were revealed.
School students in Georgia joined the celebration of “Earth Hour 2017.” On March 25, for celebrating “Earth Hour,” the eco-club of Adigeni Municipality Village Lelovani Public School, arranged an event. Within the framework of the action, local residents of the village stopped using the electricity during 1 hour. Eco-club members also organized turning off the street lights near the school, during 1 hour.
On March 31, 2017, the training was held for teachers of the schools, that are involved in the project “Save Water.” The meeting was organized by the NGO “EcoVision.” The teachers got information about the project, its goals and implementation process. There was also held a presentation about the importance of saving water. The meeting participants also were informed about the “SPARE” project and about establishing and working of eco-clubs.
On March 22, 2017, for celebrating the World Water Day, a new project “Save Water” was launched. The project is organized by the company “Georgian Water and Power” (gwp) and NGO “EcoVision.” The aim of the project is sustainable usage and saving of water resources, as well as raising the civic activism with the help of youth. The project is supported by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection and the Ministry of Education and Science.
On February 22, 2017, at NGO “EcoVision” education centre was arranged the first working meeting of the project “Air Filter.” The event was organized by JumpStart Georgia and NGO “EcoVision.” The meeting was attended by non-governmental and governmental organizations who work on air pollution topic.
On February 17-20, 2017, NGO “EcoVision” arranged trainings for youth, organized by Europe Foundation. 120 members of Youth Bank Georgia program participated in trainings about environment protection. Participants gained new competencies on the following issues: energy efficiency, air pollution, water resources management, climate change, waste management, biodiversity, eco-tourism, etc.
On February 4, 2017, Tbilisi State University hosted “Science Cup 2016-2017” Final Tour, organized by “Children’s University” (which functions at the University’s faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences) and supported by NGO “EcoVision,” under the project “SPARE.”
On January 31, 2017, the Memorandum of Understanding was formed between NGO "EcoVision" and “Information Center on NATO and EU.”
On January 21-22, 2017, in Kakheti, NGO “EcoVision” organized the training for journalists on the following topic “Climate Change and Public Health.” The training was arranged within the framework of the regional project “Climate Forum East II.” The local partner of the project is the Georgian Red Cross Society. The regional project is coordinated by the Austrian Red Cross. The project is financed by the EU and co-financed by the Austrian Development Agency and Austrian Red Cross.
During December 17-22, 2016, NGO “EcoVision” implemented a project “Eco Youth for Pankisi Valley.” The project was organized within the framework of school initiatives program of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. The project included 4 meetings in Akhmeta Municipality and Tbilisi for school children and teachers from 7 villages of Pankisi Valley. Up to 40 school students and 15 teachers took part in the meetings.
On December 2, 2016, under the “SPARE” project, NGO “EcoVision” organized the meeting with professors of natural sciences and landscape architecture. Up to 15 people participated in the meeting, including: professors from Tbilisi State University, Georgian Technical University, Ilia State University and Tbilisi State Academy of Arts.
On November 17, 2016, the representatives of NGO “EcoVision,” “Austrian Red Cross” and “Georgian Red Cross” visited Khelvachauri municipality. They brought energy-efficient wood stoves to 3 kindergartens in the municipality.
On November 11, for celebrating the International Energy Saving Day, the Energy Efficiency Festival was held in Tbilisi, at renewed Aghmashenebeli Avenue. The festival is organized by NGO “EcoVision,” under the international school project “SPARE.”
